After a respectable 2012 year in terms of FDI, the amount of investment projects announcements identified by the ANIMA-MIPO observatory in Algeria in 2013 registers a slight decrease compared to the previous two years. As usual, more than 50% of the recorded flows are directed toward the energy sector, with two predominant projects: the launch of the production phase in the Menzel Ledjmet East field by the Italian ENI as well as a capital increase by the Spanish petrochemical group Fertiberia in its Algerian subsidiary Fertial.
Projects identified in metallurgy also occupied an important place in 2013 FDI intentions share: 6 projects totalling €308 million are recorded, starting by the development by Qatar Steel and Qatar Mining of a steel complex in the Jijel region and followed by the extension of the El Hadjar site by ArcelorMittal.

Proposals from the Senegalese diaspora to contribute to productive investment

A "Diaspora Act "for the adoption of appropriate legal frameworks

This advocacy is based on consultations with the private sector, conducted both with high-ranking diaspora talent in Europe and the United States and with repats, the entrepreneurs of the diaspora who have resettled in Senegal. It is also based on studies on diasporas and their networks conducted by ANIMA for more than ten years. It proposes concrete measures to facilitate and accelerate the involvement of economic diasporas in different channels of engagement.
